Supporting Our Local Communities

The Multifamily Coalition for Affordable Housing and its board members understand that safe and affordable housing goes beyond just walls and windows. It’s about families, neighbors, local businesses, schools, and everything that contributes towards creating a strong, vibrant community. It’s important that the properties and families we support, and the thousands of others like them across the nation, have the resources to strengthen and thrive within their communities.

Each year, MCFAH provides funding through other non-profit organizations that are working daily to provide housing to those in need. Since 2011, MCFAH has contributed over $500,000 to support the hard work and vital services that the following organizations provide. CHATT Foundation

From its website:

40 years ago, we started as the Chattanooga Community Kitchen, and fed the hungry each year by the hundreds of thousands. Over that time, we also added other services for the homeless, like shelter and clothing and counseling. Today, we are no longer just a Kitchen. We are a Foundation for hope. We are the CHATT Foundation.

Our mission is to meet the most basic needs of hungry, homeless and vulnerable people in our community while offering a clear path to self-sufficiency.

Letter regarding support:

Dear Multifamily Coalition for Affordable Housing,

What a fantastic time we had at our Annual Pancake Palooza on 2-24-24 at the 242 Community Church! We couldn't have made it as awesome as it was without you and your generous donation of $2500.00. Haven House is absolutely over the moon with gratitude for your presence and your enthusiastic participation during our event.

Let's take a moment to stack up some appreciation for you, because you're a crucial ingredient in our mission to guide and support families facing homelessness toward stable homes. Your presence not only made the event a blast, but also ensures that we can keep pushing forward with our mission in the local area.

The amazing memories we made together are something we will never forget! From hilarious antics to the friendly competition among our star servers, it was a syrupy delight. With all that being said, let's have a round of applause for the Pancake Palooza Champion Mark McDaniel and the reigning supreme People's Champion Sister Pat!

As those short stacks for a tall cause made their way to each table, surrounded by the warmth of family and friends, know that your presence was more than just enjoying pancakes - it was a symbol of solidarity with the families we serve.

Feeling the laughter ripple through the room, the smiling faces spread from ear to ear, it was crystal clear, this wasn't just an event; it was a celebration of community at its finest. Together, we're building a vision of a community where every family thrives in the comfort of their own home.

Thank you once again for being a part of this incredible journey. Your generous donation will be the fuel that propels us toward even more positive housing outcomes for the families we're privileged to serve.

With gratitude,

 Kim Y.

Development Manager

Martindale Brightwood

From its website:

Our mission is to be a catalyst in the sustainable development of the Martindale-Brightwood community through housing, employment, economic development, and environmental justice.

Letter regarding support:

Dear Mr. Fred Hash,

For Martindale Brightwood Community Development Corporation, affordable housing is one of top development priorities and we recently completed six affordable townhomes on N. Rural St. for homeownership. Our next project is a comprehensive housing development on Ralston Ave.  Thank you for thinking of our organization for a grant. We would like to use the grant to subsidize pre-development expenses for the first eight townhomes in our Ralston Hills Phase One project. This project is majority funded by federal ARPA funding through the City's Vacant to Vibrant grant. We will start construction on the project this fall. The homes will be for households at or below 80% of the Area Median Income. The predevelopment cost includes site clearing, financial consulting, and marketing of the project to prospective buyers.

In addition to developing our own affordable real estate deals, Martindale Brightwood Community Development Corporation wanted to create a program for emerging developers in the Martindale Brightwood neighborhood which led us to adopt the Jumpstart program from Philadelphia to pilot here in Indianapolis.

Jumpstart Martindale Brightwood was launched to help Martindale Brightwood residents to become developers of their own neighborhoods through quality, community-focused real estate development training and financing options. The program is free to participants! The program was established to create a training program for aspiring/new real estate developers who were seeking a mentor to guide them through the world of residential real estate development. Topics covered in Jumpstart includes business fundamentals, Pro forma training and technical assistance, raising capital & financing, locating, evaluating, and purchasing target properties, and creating, estimating & implementing renovation and construction.  The program targets developers who reside in Indianapolis and have a strong interest and commitment to developing in and around the Martindale Brightwood neighborhood.

Thank you again for your thoughtfulness and engagement.

Kindest regards,

Amina Pierson

CEO and Executive Director

Welcome Home of Chattanooga

From its website:

Our primary mission is to provide shelter and care for men and women who are homeless and have been diagnosed with a terminal illness. Veterans who are homeless are a priority. We thoroughly evaluate all referrals, taking a number of factors into consideration including the individual’s diagnosis, current health status, and suitability for the care we provide.

Letter regarding support:

Dear Jack and the Multifamily Coalition for Affordable Housing,

We are very grateful for your gift of $2,500 received this month. Your continued support makes a big difference for our mission!

In March of this year, we wrapped up the construction of Phase 2 with infrastructure and renovating two existing homes on our property. With the addition of these two homes, we can provide an additional 6 beds, 3-bedrooms each, for cancer respite. In just one year, we increased from serving 15 to 30 individuals.

Since opening our doors to the first resident in 2015, we have served 129 individuals in both hospice and cancer respite. We currently have 11 graduates who have moved into permanent supportive housing within our community and are followed by our social services team and volunteers.

The generous support from the Multifamily Coalition for Affordable Housing has been instrumental in making this home for so many. You and your support mean the world to us- you have helped us grow and we are grateful!

With appreciation,

Sherry Campbell, LMSW

Executive Director
